 FAQs

  • We allow a full refund for lessons cancelled with at least 48 hours notice. A 50% refund will be provided for lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice. We will reschedule a lesson at no extra charge up to 24 hours prior to the original lesson time.

  • We allow a full refund for classes cancelled with at least 14 days notice. A 50% refund will be provided for classes cancelled with 8-13 days notice. No refund will be provided for classes cancelled with less than 8 days notice.

  • For free events, just let us know via email that you will not be in attendance. For paid events, please see our group class cancellation policy. For events that include a kit, we cannot provide any refund once you have received the kit.

  • Thanks for registering for a group class! Depending on the class and your skill level, we encourage you to schedule a private lesson to make up the material for any missed session to keep you on track with the class. If you plan to miss more than one session, it may be in your best interest to register for a class that will work better with your schedule.

    If you know ahead of time that you will miss a class, please contact us at info.rootsknitting@gmail.com before registering.

  • A standard shipping cost of $7.50 is applied per transaction, & we ship via USPS to anywhere in the United States.

  • We understand mistakes happen! If you need to change your order, please contact us as soon as possible at info.rootsknitting@gmail.com so that we can help you on a case by case basis.

  • Yarn in its original form can be returned or exchanged at no extra cost within 30 days of purchase. All notion & opened or otherwise used yarn cannot be returned or exchanged.

  • It depends! That is why we offer several different options of learning. Whether you prefer a group class setting, individual lessons, or learning at your own pace (coming soon!), we cover it all. We like to think that it is not about how fast you learn to knit or crochet, it’s all about the journey.

  • To keep it simple, both are needle arts that use yarn to create anything you can imagine. Two needles with tapered tips are used to knit while crochet uses one hook that quite literally has a ‘hooked’ end. You can browse some options on our website!

  • A pair of knitting needles & a ball of yarn! You can find yarn & needles for purchase on our shopping page.

  • Your pattern will usually tell you what weight of yarn is required. From there, you can browse all the yarns we have in that weight on our website! If you have questions on yarn recommendations, feel free to contact us through our website or email us at info.rootsknitting@gmail.com.

  • Left-handed humans can craft, too! In all seriousness, through our own teaching experience, left-handed folks tend to have different learning needs, and we absolutely love it. We strive to provide personalized instruction as we understand that everyone learns in a different way.

  • Gauge is the length & width measurement of your stitches in a project. For most projects, gauge isn’t that big of a deal. For projects like garments or something that needs to fit a specific measurement, you need to have the correct gauge to ensure a great fit! Be on the lookout for classes on gauge, or schedule a private lesson to learn more!

  • Right here at Roots! We provide group online classes, private lessons, & on demand instruction (coming soon!) for any style of learner. We teach knit & crochet classes from beginner to advanced. Visit our current class schedule here or schedule a private lesson!

  • Each knitter has their own preferences in terms of what needles work for them. We have found that many of our knitters (ourselves included) really enjoy the ChiaGoo Red circular needles for all kinds of projects. You can shop them here!
